Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 13, 2026

NGSMedia LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates Alertero: the website at alertero.com, the Alertero mobile app, and the Alertero sensor (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service. Please read it carefully. Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Use.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information we need to provide the Service.

Account information

When you create an account with Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or a one-time sign-in link sent to your email, we receive:

  • Your email address, used to identify your account and to send you important messages about the Service
  • Your name, and for Google accounts your profile photo, when the provider shares them
  • A unique user ID for your account

Monitoring data

When you pair an Alertero sensor with your account, it sends measurements it has already worked out on the sensor. We store:

  • One-minute summaries of presence, heart rate, breathing rate, distance, and motion
  • Alerts and events, such as a possible fall, and when they happened
  • Personal normal ranges learned from that history, such as resting heart rate and usual sleep and wake times
  • Sensor details: the name and room you give it, its firmware version, its Wi-Fi signal strength, and when it was last online

Membership information

If you buy a membership, our payment processor (Stripe) handles billing, and we only receive:

  • Your membership status and billing period
  • Transaction identifiers (we never see your payment card details)

Privacy by Design

Alertero is designed with privacy at its core. The Alertero sensor uses contactless radar: there is NO camera and NO microphone. The raw radar waveform is processed on the sensor and never leaves it.

  • No camera, no microphone: a hardware fact, not a setting
  • On-sensor processing: the raw radar signal is analyzed on the device, and only derived numbers (such as heart rate and breathing rate) are sent
  • Local fall detection: falls and local alerts work offline; only remote-caregiver relay and history sync require internet

Only the derived monitoring data is synced so you can view trends and history. We never collect images or audio of the monitored person.

Cookies and Analytics

alertero.com uses two cookies, and neither is used for advertising:

  • A session cookie that keeps you signed in
  • A language cookie that remembers the language you chose

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It does not use cookies and does not follow you across other websites.

If you use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, their sign-in buttons load from Apple and Google and are covered by their own privacy policies.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

  • Cloudflare: website and app hosting, sign-in, our database, email delivery, and page visit counts
  • Apple and Google: Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In
  • Stripe: membership billing
  • Apple App Store: app distribution

These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

How We Use Your Information

The limited information we collect is used for:

  • Creating and managing your account
  • Showing you your monitoring data, trends, and alerts
  • Processing memberships and purchases
  • Sending sign-in links and important service-related messages
  • Responding to your support requests

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Account information and monitoring history are kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete it together with your sensors, monitoring history, and alerts.

You can delete your account in the Alertero app, or ask us to delete it by emailing support@alertero.com. Email sign-in links expire after 15 minutes.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • Sign-in through Apple, Google, or one-time email links, so there is no Alertero password to steal
  • Encrypted connections between the sensor, the app, the website, and our servers
  • Access controls so that only your account can see your sensors and their data

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Portability: request a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below.

California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.

We do NOT sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us using the information below.

International Users

If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws. Our legal basis for processing your information is:

  • Contract performance: to provide you with the Service
  • Legitimate interests: to operate and improve the Service

You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.

Age Requirements

Alertero is intended for adult caregivers 18 years of age and older. You are responsible for obtaining the consent of the person being monitored (or their legal guardian) before setting up monitoring.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without the required consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will tell you about material changes by posting the new policy on this page and in the Alertero app, and by updating the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
